week 23 recap + a fun Exhibit

a day of airports, planes and automobiles I had to fly to LA last Monday to renew my passport. My day started at 3 a.m. and I didn’t get home until about 10 p.m. It was a very long day, to say the least, full of stress and delays as well as many hours at the San Francisco airport where I got to see the Hair Style exhibit. Did you know people didn’t feel the need to buy shampoo or other hair products until the early 20th century? I loved all the hairdryers and the hairdo sculptures. You can read more about the exhibit and see more photos online at the SFO Museum website. I think I’d love the job of putting together these types of exhibits. I should look into it. Related to this, if you haven’t watched the Netflix series Self Made, you should. It’s good! As always, my favorite part of any flight is when the plane takes off, so I always ask for a window seat. Happy Earth Day! I’m baking again. Well, we’ve been baking since March 24. It’s hard to believe that our new stove was delivered almost a month ago, right in time for Patrick’s birthday, which was great. I was even able to bake a birthday cake, with the only problem that the delivery and installation pushed all our cooking plans late into the evening, so there were no good photos of the cake. Okay, the other problem was that my frosting didn’t turn out very pretty. So I didn’t think my first cake in our new oven was blog-worthy. It was tasty, though! Patrick had asked for a lemony dessert, so I made a four-tier mini cake filled with lots of lemon cream.  Since then, we’ve been trying to stay away from eating too many sweets in an effort to get in better shape, so it’s been a bit quiet in the baking department.
